JSSA (Jewish Social Service Agency) is launching an action-oriented, two-day Job Search Boot Camp to quickly strengthen skills for job-seekers in today’s highly competitive employment market. The program is one of many innovations JSSA has introduced in revitalizing employment services to help the community cope with the economic decline.

Job Search Boot Camp is jam-packed with constructive lessons on how to write a powerful resume, network effectively and interview with confidence. Boot Camp leader Judy Smith, an experienced career coach in JSSA’s employment and career services, teaches participants the specific skills they need to unearth the hidden job market, organize materials and resources for the job search, create effective personal branding and calmly respond to difficult interview questions.

“Boot Camp is all about reviewing each person’s own interests, accomplishments and aspirations, and then making a customized plan to search for a job that best fits the individual,” Smith said.

Job Search Boot Camp will be offered throughout the fall on September 10-11, September 21-22, October 8-9, October 21-22 and November 2-3. All sessions meet from 9 a.m. -  4 p.m. at JSSA’s one-year-old Fallsgrove office, 200 Wood Hill Road, Rockville. The cost of the program is $197 including materials. Fee assistance is available based on need.

JSSA also offers an additional free Jumpstart to Your Job Search, a one-hour intensive group session prior to the first day of Boot Camp. This free session will be offered September 1, 14 and 30 and October 13 and 26 at 9 a.m.

Other new employment programs at JSSA include a weekly Job Search Club also led by Smith. The Job Search Club helps participants keep up momentum, boost networking, update personal action plans and learn from the experiences of other job-seekers while receiving guidance from a career coach. The Job Search Club meets every Wednesday from noon – 1 p.m. at the Fallsgrove office. Fees are $15 per session, with payment due at each club meeting.  To register, call
